Mary Eames' studio has been my haven during this "annus horribilis". I started taking lessons with her and do a class once a week. That time spent in the studio has paid so many dividends and I am pleased with the way my skills and knowledge of different media has grown. Pastels, watercolour learning to use chinese paints are all developing skills under her tutulage. See earlier diary.
Last night however in Velez Blanco on the Almerian Murcian border, Steve and I went to the private showing of her work, several of which I have watched her create during the last year.
Great fun and with a good buzz, her show is open until 28th September at the delightful Galeria-Estudio "La Concepcion" an "antigua ermita" (old hermitage) of the 16thC in Velez Blanco.
Mary Eames and some of her work: Two of her larger oil canvases on show
Mary and her husband David who frames all her work and is just the most amazing gopher hail from Gloucester and had a studio there before moving out here.
This corner of the Spanish kingdom draws in many artists and wild life enthusiasts. This is the home of the Indalo and the Shaman. Large spaces, few people, Perfecto.
Mary Eames Oil "Poppies": Currently on show at Galeria-Estudio "La Concepcion" Velez Blanco.
And this is a little pastel I just knocked off - a little puppy I met called Baby.
A pastel drawing of "Baby": ... the student's work
