What is NativeSpain.com™?
NativeSpain.com is a social publishing project (or Bookwork™) dedicated to publishing the most up-to-date, accurate and interesting travel guides on Spain in existence. What makes NativeSpain.com books unique is that they’re written by you and people just like you. That is, people who love, live in, visit and know their part of Spain intimately.
What is a BookWork™ or BookWorking™?
Bookworking™ is the process of creating a dynamic book on the web by working together with others who share your interests while simultaneously building a social and professional network for making friends and promoting yourself and your business.
The online content created by the Bookwork™ is regularly (every 6-12 months) edited, typeset and converted into a final print-ready book which is then published and sold direct, via Amazon and in all good bookshops. All contributors are credited in the printed guide and get preferential “author discounts” when buying copies of the book.
So essentially a Bookwork™ gives you free access to a regularly updated online guide which you can contribute to, correct or update directly (becoming a credited author) and buy at a discount to sell on directly. You can also use the Bookwork™ to make new friends, share your experiences and promote your business.
How can you benefit by getting involved?
There are many ways you can benefit but here are the main ones
- Become a published ‘Travel Writer’. What would it be like to fulfil a dream and impress your friends and family? Perhaps you’re already a well respected journalist and would benefit from the extra kudos of being in a book too? Whatever your motivation we want to give full and public credit where credit is due.
- Earn NativePoints™ which you can use to win FREE flights and exchange for free advertising on the website and in the printed guide. The more you contribute the more perks you will be able to get.
- Have the chance to win a Publishing Contract and see your diary in print.
- Gain free access to a complete and dynamically updated guide and directory for your part of Spain which is sure to be useful to locals, holiday makers and future residents.
- Promote yourself and your business on a high-traffic, highly targeted website by using your personal profile page, online diary and the online discussion forums. You can further increase your exposure by taking out inexpensive banner ads on the site.
- Make friends who share your interests. If you’ve recently left your home country to move to Spain permanently then it’s reassuring to find likeminded people willing to help you settle in. The NativeSpain members are there for each other and finding people like you is easy.
Who is welcome at NativeSpain.com™?
We’re delighted to give free and complete membership to anyone (from anywhere in the world) interested in good, solid and interesting information on Spain – whether you’re holidaying, emigrating, retiring or running a business there or whether you’ve lived there all your life.
While some people will know particular parts of Spain like the back of their hand the NativeSpain.com site is wholly inclusive. So even if you feel you don’t have the knowledge to write or contribute to the main book then there are many other ways you can get involved with the NativeSpain.com BookWork™ not least learning all the facts shared by your fellow members.
Who is behind NativeSpain.com?
The book that spawned the NativeSpain.com website, “Going Native In Murcia” was published by Debbie Jenkins and Joe Gregory (an entrepreneurial brother-and-sister team) who started their first business together back in 1997 when Joe was just 19.
In early 2005 Debbie and Joe set up BookShaker.com and went on to publish 33 books in under 2 years - achieving 5 best-sellers.
They are now using their ability to publish and promote books to compile and publish NativeSpain™ guides for every part of Spain. They coined the phrase BookWorking™ to describe their innovative approach to creating books.
