Your Name:
Gaile Griffin Peers
Where are you from?:
The UK via Cyprus
Where do you live now?:
Jávea
Who did you come here with?:
Partner / Husband / Wife
What's your best bit of advice for people thinking of doing the same as you?:
Come and talk to me and lets work together instead of competing. Business Networking can be an important part of the stability and survival of small businesses - so extending that working with other networking groups is also important for a Business Club
What plans do you have for your future in Spain?:
I want to bring as many of the English Speaking businesses in Marina Alta together as I can. I want those businesses to prosper, to network and to build on the good things that we as expatriates regardless of nationality, bring to this part of Spain.
Why did you decide to come here?:
Because having lived in Cyprus for three years I couldn't bear the thought of living away from the Mediterranean
What did you leave behind?:
one son in Cyprus and another in the UK - you put them down for a minute and the next thing you know they have taken root and don't want to move!
What work do you do?:
I run Marina Alta Business Club
What made you choose this location? Did you know much about it before you moved here?:
I chose Jávea because my family has lived here for 20 years
Tell us about the place you live? What's it like (a house, apartment, flat, etc)? What are your neighbours like?:
I live in a villa on the foot hills of the Montgo and breakfast looking inland across the valley towards Vals. Our neighbours are delightful and friendly
What's the best thing about where you live?:
Its quiet, has great views and is on the edge of a National Park
What have you learned about your area that you think other people should know?:
How important do you think it is to be able to speak Spanish?:
Very - not learning it, or at least trying is insulting our hosts, who we then oblige to learn English, Dutch, German, French etc - just because we are too lazy to learn Spanish... Having said all that, my Spanish is poor - but it is, slowly, getting better!
