Studying Spanish in Madrid
Madrid is without doubt one of the best cities to study Spanish in Spain. Residents speak with a very clear accent, which makes it much easier to learn Spanish outside of the class, and the city itself offers a true wealth of cultural activities paralleled perhaps only by Barcelona.
There are a number of well-respected Universities in the city and no lack of private language schools, so from an academic perspective Madrid is definitely a good option for people interested in learning Spanish in Spain. Arranging courses and accommodation can be a challenge due to language barriers and cultural differences, but the perseverance necessary to get everything arranged definitely pays off in the long run. There are also services available online that help you find and register for discounted Spanish courses online.
All-inclusive packages are even available to those interested in taking a course at a university in Madrid with extra services such as pre-departure assistance, on-site orientation and guided tours throughout Spain. See Study Spanish Abroad for more information.
One of the most appealing aspects of this European capital is its social life: from museums and concerts to restaurants and disco’s, you’ll never run out of interesting things to do around the city. Many people feel that Madrid offers the best nightlife in Europe, with its many districts suited to different preferences and ages.
Madrid’s role as the sixth-largest economic capital and sole cultural bridge to Latin America within Europe makes it extremely attractive from a business point of view as well. For those interested in international relations, business, politics and related disciplines, time spent studying in Madrid can be extremely valuable.
The city also boasts an excellent transportation system; there are few places at more than a five minute walk from a metro station or bus stop. And Madrid is also well situated for travel throughout the rest of Spain. Many places of interest – like Toledo, Ávila, Sevilla and Salamanca – are within a two-hour drive and can be reached cheaply by bus.
