Salobreña

Salobreña is a stunning whitewashed village surrounded by sugar cane plantations - often referred to as the jewel of the Costa Tropical.
The Arab Castle, as well as being of historical and cultural interest is the venue for outdoor festivals in summer. You can take a guided tour through the castle and other places of interest which are arranged by the tourist office.
Baza

Baza is part of the municipality of the same name, one of the largest in Granada, overlooked by the dome-shaped mountain Mount Jabalcón.
The location of Baza means that it has long, dry and cold winters with regular frosts as temperatures have been known to fall to minus 16 degrees!
Huéscar

Huéscar - also known as ´La Ciudad de la Paz´ (City of Peace) is located in the north-eastern tip of the Granada province. Surrounded by the mountain ranges of Sierra de Cazorla and La Sagra which has the highest peak in the Subbética range.
A feature of the town are the beautiful and well-kept gardens most important of which is the ´Parque Municipal Rodríguez Penalva´ covering an area of 50,000m2.
2km outside of the town are the Fuencaliente public baths in a recreation & sports complex of 20,000m2.
Guadix

Guadix lies on the left bank of the River Guadix and is most famous for its ´Barrio Troglodyte´ where almost half of the locals live underground in cave houses. A defence against the fierce summer heat, these cave houses are not bare caves as their name implies and many have been converted into luxury dwellings.
The barrio called ´Sagrario´ covers most of the original part of the town with a high concentration of churches, palaces and plazas.

The name Alhama comes from the Arab ´al-hamman´ meaning hot water which describes the thermal waters found in the area making it an important spa town.
The thermal waters have a temperature of 47 degrees and are recommended for a variety of conditions ranging from arthritis, bronchitis, stress and even obesity. The natural minerals in the water including calcium, magnesium and sulphates are said to be therapeutic and you can choose from jet showers, mud baths, thermal pools, saunas and more.
Almuñecar

Almuñecar is located in the heart of the Costa Tropical which itself is located between the Costa del Sol and Almeria.
As the name of the Costa suggests, this area benefits from a sub-tropical climate which is evident in the variety of fruits available which can not be found elsewhere in Spain.
Trevélez

Trevélez is one of the largest towns in Las Alpujarras and is also the highest municipality in Spain. Trevélez is divided into three zones - bajo, medio, alto barrios (lower, mid, upper barrios). The lower barrio is where most of the tourists go and where you will find the most handicraft shops, bars, restaurants and lodging.
A speciality of the town is cured ham (jamón) which is is liked to Jabugo ham, but at a much more reasonable price.
