Cartagena - My view of a small part of the City.

Cartagena - Romans, Dining, Geocaching and Diving (of course!)
Submitted by debsjenkins on Fri, 29/08/2008 - 09:03.Cartagena is a medium-sized town on the south-east coast of Spain, dominated by an industrial port and an illustrious naval history: the inventor of the submarine was from Cartagena, as commemorated by the huge grey prototype submarine from 1888 that squats down by the leisure port. The largest submarine in the world is also being built here, under wraps so nothing to see unfortunately.

In the main port of Cartagena. We were on a trip with a friend, and as this was our first visit to Cartagena, we were pleasantly with everything we saw, and at lunchtime decided to have a menu del dia in La Patacha, which we thought would be quite a novelty eating afloat! It was certainly a wise decision, the interior was fascinating, and the food was excellent value for money at 9.90euros per head. The staff were all very happy friendly people, and gave us excellent service, and we agreed that we couldn't have found a nicer place to eat. Just a few metres away was a 'turistica' boat, and we couldn't resist a trip round the harbour to add the final touches to our lovely day. We will definately be going back to La Patacha, and will recommend it to all our friends.

A beautiful floating restuarant in the main port of Cartagena, serving freshly cooked fish and meat dishes, and also menu del dia at 9.90euros per head. Excellent value for money, and really good service
