Another Happy Valley Sunday - April 15th
Submitted by grantv on Mon, 16/04/2007 - 14:15.As the sun remembered that it is meant shine in Spain , I spent an exhausting weekend eating and drinking (television work was involved, but more of that another time). On Saturday Nola and I joined a party of friends on a Tapas Tour of Granada. Some places she and I knew well and some excellent, new destinations. This was all thanks to Gayle Mackie of www.granadatapastours.com A magnificent seven of us followed Gayle from bar to bar. Not the tourist haunts that serve a plate of crisps or olives as a tapas.
Television - in Spanglish!

Late in May another TV station aimed at British people either living in Spain, or those who have the desire so to do, is scheduled to be launched on the Sky satellite system. Broadcast from the "Spanish desert" that is Fuengirola it hopes to transmit entertaining and informative programmes about living in Spain. Pity therefore that I could find not one person in Fuengirola who spoke Spanish. My order for coffees in Spanish was met with the reply: "Alright darling… da ya want sugar with them coffees"? "Fancy a bacon buttie luv"? Perhaps it is not surprising then that the people running the station do not plan to transmit interviews with anyone speaking Spanish! The channel is called Living in Spain TV. I wish those good and brave people running the station well. Setting up a new TV station is akin to being Chairman of a football team. Show me the black hole and I will help you pour your money down it!
