Another Year in Spain - February 2008 - part 2cont
Submitted by Susan Bearder on Sat, 23/02/2008 - 23:55.The risks of just drifting along here if you dont have interests and the capacity to draw from within yourself are pretty high it seems to me. The big one is, must be, drink. There used to be a joke: What do you call Jersey?"
Answer: "80,000 alcoholics clinging to a rock...." Weelll, I think the British in Spain might give Jersey a run for its money.
L'Església del Mar-Ildefonso Falcones
Submitted by Simon Harris on Sat, 23/02/2008 - 23:15.I'm about three quarters of the way through this fun book. It's a bit trashy at times but it's a great read, and really gets you hooked.
25-Levante Home
Submitted by Simon Harris on Sat, 23/02/2008 - 23:06.The prospects look good this weekend, but let's be careful not to get too carried away. We've had one good week out of 25, and we've won two important games. However, Frank is still The Wank, and a large number of our first team, although talented, are a bunch of capricious little prima donna-like tossers.
Exploring Murcia
Submitted by Barbara Price on Fri, 22/02/2008 - 18:00.Hi,
I wonder if anyone out there can help me. Even though I have a property in Los Nietos Murcia I have never had the time to explore the region properly. I am coming out for three weeks at the end of April (21st Apr - 9th May) and would like some advice on the best places to visit, possible hotels to stay in, will there be any fiestas during this time etc?
I will have the use of a car for this time but don`t really like driving at night.I knowthe Cartagena area quite well but would like to visit Fortuna and the Jumilla area.Any suggestions?
Free ebook, new Guide, lots of great new articles...

Ideal Summer Destination to Study Spanish in Spain
Submitted by Dominick on Fri, 22/02/2008 - 14:49.The Andalusian city of Malaga, on the southern tip of Spain just across from Morocco, is one of the best locations in the country for a summer study abroad experience. Its blue skies, sunny beaches and exciting nightlife – all of which can also be found in abundance in Malaga’s surrounding coastal towns – draw thousands of students a year from across the world to this laid-back Mediterranean enclave.
Studying Spanish in Madrid
Submitted by Rebecca on Fri, 22/02/2008 - 14:10.Studying Spanish in Madrid
Madrid is without doubt one of the best cities to study Spanish in Spain. Residents speak with a very clear accent, which makes it much easier to learn Spanish outside of the class, and the city itself offers a true wealth of cultural activities paralleled perhaps only by Barcelona.
Why Choose Spain?
Submitted by Accom on Wed, 20/02/2008 - 18:51.
No more than twenty years ago, most ‘normal’ people would consider the prospect of buying property abroad as something out of reach, something confined to the rich or very daring. Well, times have changed, as they consistently do. These days we are not thinking, “Wouldn’t it be nice to own a second home abroad?”, instead, we are thinking “WHERE will I buy my second home?”
24a-Champions League-Celtic Away
Submitted by Simon Harris on Tue, 19/02/2008 - 13:58.I have to admit I'm feeling a bit more optimistic after last weekend's results (the rubbish they write in El Mundo Deportivo must be contagious). We're playing Celtic in Glasgow tomorrow night, which will not be an easy game by any means! Perhaps the reason for my optimism, though, is that I reckon Real Madrid will get stuffed by AS Roma tonight.

Islantilla
Submitted by Yolanda Solo on Tue, 19/02/2008 - 00:09.Islantilla is a perfect example of how coastal development does not have to be an eyesore on the landscape. A low-level development of residential houses, tourist accommodation and hotels, even the commercial centre right on the beach-front seems to blend in.
The small commercial centre is the focal point of the area and has boutiques, cafes and restaurants which are overflowing with visitors during the summer months (and very quiet during the winter months, with many establishments closing until the tourists return).
Costa Esuri
Submitted by Yolanda Solo on Mon, 18/02/2008 - 23:59.
While Costa Esuri is not a town in itself it has to be mentioned as one of the largest urbanisations to have been built in Spain. Modeled on a ´mediterranean-style´ village it has a staggering 7000 residential units with a mixture of apartments, townhouses and villa plots.
When it is completed, Costa Esuri will have its own commercial centre, various 4 and 5 star hotels, a school, marina and several social and recreational areas. Not to mention the fact it has 2 18-hole golf courses already popular with players.
Moguer
Submitted by Yolanda Solo on Mon, 18/02/2008 - 23:47.Islantilla is a shining example of how coastal development does not need to be an eyesore on the landscape. A low-level resort in the middle of the Huelva coast, Islantilla is one of the most important tourist destinations in the province.
The focal point of the area is the small commercial centre which blends into the coastline and is full of shops, bars and restaurants which are a hive of activity in the summer (and very quiet in the winter with many establishments closing until the tourists return).
La Palma del Condado
Submitted by Yolanda Solo on Mon, 18/02/2008 - 23:25.Population: 9,925
La Palma del Condado is one of those typical little Spanish villages that is missed by many visitors travelling between Huelva and Seville. It has recently gained more attention however due to the new Monte Blanco Racing Circuit that has been built there.
The circuit will include a ´village´ that can be included in the overall circuit and that has a hotel in the centre. Approved for international racing up to GP2 and used for Formula One testing the circuit is set to become one of the best in Europe.
