BEST-SELLING PUBLISHER STAGES "X-FACTOR" COMPETITION
FOR UNSIGNED SPANISH TRAVEL WRITERS AROUND THE GLOBE
======================================================
ARE YOU AN UNDISCOVERED BEST-SELLING SPANISH TRAVEL WRITER?
Upstart travel publishing imprint, NativeSpain, today
launched a writing contest for unsigned bloggers, travel
writers and expats with a passion for Spain.
The winning entrant will walk away with a publishing deal
valued at £10,000 with the independent publishing company
now famous for its audacious Amazon bestseller campaigns.
BookShaker, the small publishing outfit behind NativeSpain,
has just two full time employees yet has so far published 37
titles and achieved 5 bestsellers within just 2 and half
years of launching.
Debbie Jenkins and Joe Gregory, the brother and sister team
dubbed "the renegade publishers" by their peers have been
pioneering the concept of "collaborative publishing" since
early 2006. Members of the community create the content
they'd like to see in a book on the website and then they
get to see it published - with their name credited in print.
Debbie, who also co-authored the first book in the
NativeSpain series says, "Innovation and audience
participation have been essential to our success so far and
we know that real, undiscovered talent is to be found in the
strangest places.
She continues, "By staging this competition, we're hoping to
give someone with a unique talent their first big break.
We'll also be able to publish a great book to showcase
NativeSpain's quirky and very personal style."
The publishing company are in the process of creating 5
"Native's Guides" to Spain by mid 2008 and hope to
have a guide for over 47 regions in print by end 2009.
The winning entry, however, will be a unique book that is
more a "Native's Perspective" than a "Factual Guide".
